Hill Country Film Festival

When: Thu., April 27, Fri., April 28, Sat., April 29 and Sun., April 30 2017

If Fiesta’s onslaught of cascarones, confetti, medal swapping and sloshing beer makes you want to run for the hills, the Hill Country Film Festival might be just what the doctor ordered. Launched in 2010 with a mission to “encourage discovery through visual storytelling,” the four-day gathering brings a thoughtful array of independent films and panel discussions to the heart of the Hill Country. Comprising nearly 90 shorts and features from the U.S., Canada, Spain, Germany, Australia and beyond, the program plays out at the delightfully old-school Fritztown Cinema (which thankfully serves up Texas brews and wine) and wraps each evening with parties around town. Although ideal for a quick day trip, HFF also makes for an excellent excuse to cozy up in one of Fredericksburg’s 300-plus bed and breakfast options.

Price: $10 per film, $200 for a festival pass
