Former Wildfish chef opens Two Step on 1604

More restaurants are looking to the abundant land all around 1604 to open second restaurants and new ventures. Two Step Restaurant and Cantina (9840 W Loop 1604 N) is the newest to debut, at 1604 and Braun. Two Step is the brainchild of Steve Warner and his wife. Steve came to San Antonio originally to open Wildfish Seafood Grille (1834 NW Loop 1604), but he left in September to give it all to Two Step, a down-home restaurant featuring steaks, borracho beans, and cinnamon and raisin bread pudding. The eatery opened quietly last week, so go before it gets too crowded.

There are a lot of talented chefs in San Antonio, but only a few times of year you can see them all together in one place. Blue Star Arts & Eats, the art center’s yearly food and art auction, will bring together Bruce Auden of Biga on the Banks and Auden’s Kitchen, Jeffery Balfour of Citrus at the Hotel Valencia, Thierry P. Burkle of The Grill at Leon Springs, Tan Nguyen of Central Market, Damien Watel of Bistro Vatel, Quealy Watson of The Monterey, Andrew Weissman of Il Sogno and The Sandbar, and Steven McHugh of Lüke. Plenty of wine and food will be on hand, all the better to tipsily bid on art and donated auction items. Tickets can be purchased now by calling (210) 227-6960. More info at bluestarart.org.
