The overall road record of the San Antonio Spurs might read a disappointing 4 - 8, but the silver (and black) lining is 1 - 0. That’s the Spurs’ current record on their 10th annual Rodeo Road Trip after besting the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, 89 - 85. Paced by Tony Parker’s 21 points/7 assists and Tim Duncan’s 19 points/17 rebounds/5 blocks, the Spurs overcame a woeful third quarter that saw them get outscored by Memphis 27 - 15. Duncan, who appears to have recently stepped into a time machine, scored seven of the Spurs’ final nine points. On the season, the Spurs are 17 - 9, winners of five in a row and atop the Southwest Division standings.
The 2012 Rodeo Road Trip calls for 9 games in 18 days, totaling approximately 9,000 miles.
Manu's mano: Sidelined the last five weeks with a fractured fifth metacarpal on his left hand, Manu might return to action in the middle of the Rodeo Road Trip.
Reservations for one: Eastern Conference and Western Conference All-Star Reserves will be announced Thursday night on TNT. Tony Parker appears to be a shoo-in following his season-high 42 point/9 assist outburst in Saturday night's statement win over the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder.
Spurs at the Super Bowl: Tim Duncan appeared in one of Bridgestone’s two commercials. Not much, Duncan dribbled two different basketballs, then made an inquisitive face. All the while, Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash received a majority of the commercial's focus.
