As lame as it may sound, Brian Regan is one of the good guys of comedy. The Miami native doesn’t swear or tell raunchy jokes and he hopes no kids out there find out he takes a shot of peach schnapps before going onstage or that he dropped out of college in 1980 to pursue a career as a comic. Judging from his two hour-long Comedy Central specials (2007’s Brian Regan Standing Up and 2008’s The Epitome of Hyperbole), plus 20 appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman and yearly 80-city theater tours, there’s a solid market for his brand of clean observational comedy. Packed with relatable jokes about ordinary subjects like airplane travel, doctor visits, and little league baseball, Regan’s concerts routinely culminate with a standing ovation followed by an encore based on suggestions shouted from the audience. $39.50-$44.50; 8pm Sat, Aug 18; The Majestic Theatre, 224 E Houston, (210) 226-3333, majesticempire.com.
