After honoring, among others, Teen Canteen’s Sam Kinsey and Augie Meyer’s Lord August & the Visions of Lite in 2011, Texas Legacy Music (which benefits the South Texas Popular Culture Center) will honor more San Antonio and South Texas heroes from the golden age of rock from the ’50s to the ’70s. Headliners Sweet Smoke (pictured, better known for “Mary Jane is to Love/Morning Dew” and their shows at the Teen Canteen in the late ’60s) will be joined by The Remains of Virgil Foxx (with VF original members Bob Galindo and Rob Meurer), Mickey & The Soul Generation (“Iron Leg”), Cave Dwellers (with Jimmy Spacek), and the always active and fun Los #3 Dinners. Come pay your respects: these are the guys who opened the doors for today’s young players — and in many cases can still outplay them. $10-$15; 6pm Sun, Sep 2; Sam’s Burger Joint, 330 E Grayson, (888) 512-SHOW, frontgatetickets.com.
