Pick of the Day: Benny Benassi

comment
Benny Benassi

In 2002, Italian DJ and recording artist Benny Benassi conquered clubland with “Satisfaction” — a global dance anthem that trademarked his gritty brand of tech-house and left a lasting impression thanks in no small part to an accompanying video featuring power tool-wielding sexpots. Since then Benassi has recorded five studio albums and cemented himself as a sought-after remixer and producer with a roster that includes David Bowie, OutKast, and Madonna. What the Milan native doesn’t build from the ground up he recreates in a instantly recognizable way that’s possibly best heard in his Grammy-winning 2007 remix of Public Enemy’s 1987 classic “Bring the Noise.” On Sunday, Benassi’s Rough Road Bus Tour lands at Club Rio with Chicago-based EDM trio Krewella and Italian “electro simpatica” duo Pink is Punk along for the ride. $35; 9pm Sun, Oct 21; Club Rio, 13307 San Pedro, (210) 403-2582, nightculture.com.
