The fourth-annual Fashion Week San Antonio kicked off Monday and culminates November 1 with an encore gala presenting the Fall/Winter 2012 Collection of Project Runway grad Christian Siriano. On Wednesday, the International Academy of Design & Technology’s rising fashion and graphic design stars take center stage at Illuminate, a collective exhibition and cocktail party at the Crowne Plaza (free, 6:30-9pm; 111 E Pecan). Borrowing its theme from Project Runway’s recurring recycling challenge, the Fifth Annual Avant Garde Going Green Fashion Show showcases imaginative creations made from sustainable, recycled, and repurposed materials. The “eco-couture fashion event” awards the winning designer (determined by a panel of industry pros) a cash prize of $1,000 ($15-$35, 7:30pm, Texas A&M’s Educational & Cultural Arts Center, 101 S Santa Rosa). Cocktail attire is required for most FWSA events, for a complete schedule, visit fashionsa.org. Check out our full online calendar of upcoming events here: calendar.sacurrent.com.
