I’ve written a zillion times on L.A.’s beloved La Santa Cecilia (the headliners of this, the third and last Échale series of the year), and Austin’s Charanga Cakewalk is always fun to see live. But really, you have to come early to this one. Andrea Balency is the latest great Mexican female singer-songwriter to appear in recent years (Ely Guerra, Julieta Venegas, Natalia Lafourcade, Ximena Sariñana, and Carla Morrison are the others). Born in France in 1989, Balency (a multi-instrumentalist who sings like an angel in Spanish, French, and English) developed her chops in Mexico and spent enough time in Argentina to come up with her unique mix of French chanson, hip-hop, electronica, and Mexico-Argentine folk. You can buy her Mizraïm EP on iTunes, and you can download her latest, Love, for free if you visit andreabalency.com. Free, 7pm Fri, Nov 2; Pearl Park Amphitheater, 200 E Grayson, atpearl.com.
