Carrying an abundance of unique treasures crafted by a dozen local artists, Mockingbird Holiday Market takes flight from the ashes of such seasonal favorites as Art.i.copia and Bazaar Sabado. With a name inspired by the eclectic repertoire of the Texas State Bird as well as the collaborative new venture Mockingbird Hand Prints, the two-day market kicks off on First Friday in the space formerly occupied by Joan Grona Gallery. Promising “high-quality but affordable” one-of-a-kind gifts, the inaugural event unites jewelers Lorena Angulo and Laura Quinones, textile designer Jane Bishop, print- and papermaker Paul Cox, ceramic artists Jennifer Datchuk, Ryan Takaba, and Mary Fischer, potter Diana Kersey, mixed-media artist Mary Maynor, glass artist Justin Parr, oil painter Rainey, papel picado artist Kathleen Trenchard, and textile artist Clare Watters. Free; 5:30-9pm Fri, Dec 7; 1420 S Alamo, Ste 112 (next to San Angel Folk Art). Check out our full online calendar of upcoming events here: calendar.sacurrent.com.
