Longtime fans of the eclectic West Coast outfit the Growlers should be plenty excited for their upcoming set at the Korova; the band is touring in support of their long-delayed Hung At Heart album, finally being released on January 22, and will presumably be featuring plenty of new songs. But even newcomers should consider making the scene, as the Growlers are notorious for their live shows, crammed with theatrical performances, extravagant costumes, and high-wire stagecraft. Add to that a hard-to-pin-down musical vibe — based on a bedrock of garage punk, but with elements of surf music, psychedelia, Afro-Brazilian jams, and lo-fi alternative rock — and you have the elements of a truly unpredictable show that shouldn’t be missed. Also on the bill: space-punk duo The Vacant Lots. $12; 8 pm Tue, Jan 8; The Korova, 107 E Martin, (210) 226-8404, facebook.com/thekorova.
