Stay Current with the Pick of the Day: Metalachi & Mariachis del Infierno

The members of Metalachi (“the world’s first and only heavy metal mariachi band”) claim they were conceived simultaneously while their mother Consuela Espinosa was high on horse tranquilizers with a jai alai team in a Super Ocho motel in Veracruz. Dressed in lit-up sombreros and Kiss-worthy costumes allegedly made by child factory workers paid in Chiclets and tacos, the band may look like a gimmick, but the tight mariachi spin they put on classics by Ozzy, Metallica, and Iron Maiden has been described as both “groundbreaking” and an “all-out sonic fiesta so wrong it can only be right.” $10; 8pm Fri, Jan 18; The Tequila Rock Bar at Backstage Live, 1305 E Houston, (210) 698-2856, Check out our full online calendar of upcoming events here:
