You may have noted a recent pick up in hip-hop and indie-rock shows traveling through San Antone. WHY? represents the continuance of both. This curiously named project of Berkeley musician and wordsmith Yoni Wolf plays a neurotic blend of heady indie-rock and frenetically poetic alt hip-hop. On tour in support of their fourth album Mumps, Etc., you can expect Yoni and the gang at their full animated and thrashing throttle. But you’ll want to keep your head in the game and take notice of Yoni’s stellar lyrics, which run the gamut from delicately introspective to bleak and apocalyptic. Rounding out this bill is Anticon labelmate Baths, who will be showing off his own eccentric take on the whole chillwave meets traphouse niche. Considered as a whole, this bill offers a refreshingly leftfield exploration of genre and stagecraft. $15, 8pm, The white Rabbit. 2410 N St Marys, (210) 737-2221, frontgatetickets.com.
