A signature Contemporary Art Month component initiated last year, the CAM Perennial is the first ever CAM-sponsored event. Facilitated by collaboration between CAM and the Guadalupe, the Perennial’s second chapter takes shape in an exhibition curated by Bill Arning, Director of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. After studio visits with 18 local artists, Arning handpicked an all-female lineup — Joey Fauerso, Julia Barbosa-Landois, Sarah Sudhoff, and Saint Lorraine — for a group show he named after a fondly remembered post-punk band. In his curatorial statement, Arning offers “‘bite like a kitty’ is far from a coherently thematic exhibition

Its bubbling provocations share nothing but an overarching sensibility that seems appropriate for our times, and promises to deliver some troubling fun as well.” Free, 6-9pm Friday, Guadalupe Gallery, 723 S Brazos, (210) 271-3151, contemporaryartmonth.com.
