Part of what makes local electro-synth-pop/cyberpunk (that's Gary Sweeney's term, but we're sticking to it) group Hyperbubble so delightful is their focus on the visual, whether in goofy, charming music videos or kinetic, color-coordinated live performances. We asked one half of Hyperbubble, synthesizer maniac Jeff DeCuir, for his top five favorite videos. Enjoy!
1) "Candy Apple Daydreams" video
Local filmmaking duo Angela and Mark Walley and photographer/Fl!ght gallery owner Justin Parr teamed up with Hyperbubble to film this cat-centered caper to accompany "Candy Apple Daydreams" off of the 2010 album of the same name
2) "Vending Machine" live
From a 2010 live performance in France, supporting Candy Apple Daydreams
3) Hong Kong Counterfeit's "X-Ray Eyes"
From a 2008 performance in Glasgow, Scotland
4) The 2012 Gary Sweeney Hyperbubble Super Sunshine Circus
Hyperbubble teamed up with artist Gary Sweeney for an unforgettable performance at Luminaria 2012
5) "Mom Dad Unit" live on Great Day SA
This wasn't the first, or the last, time that Hyperbubble took over the local airwaves. The cheesy living room set is somehow perfect for the song.
