RAW, founded in 2003, prides itself on hand-picking talented local artists as they are starting out and giving those artists a venue to showcase their works and jump-start their careers. The group has hosted over 600 shows in nearly 60 cities across the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
Scope will feature over 30 local artists, including photographers, musicians, visual and performing artists, and designers. The event will begin at 8pm with a performance by up-and-coming pop singer Kariana Elle, followed by a fashion show featuring (but not limited to) totes and clutches by Salato Designs and some edgy casual wear by Aaron LeFey. Hair and makeup will be provided by Jax Roberson, who lent his fashionable hand in styling models for Project Runway’s Season 13 finale.
Scope-goers can expect to see a variety of visual works at the event, including some quirky cartoon-ish dogs by ToniToons, charcoal pieces and prints by Desiree Morales, some of Bobby Dodge's "fine garage and bathroom art," and works by David Adrian Aguirre who openly draws inspiration from post-impressionist artists.
The event will be hosted by Jeannette Muniz, radio host of #GoodJobTexas. Tickets are $20 at the door and $15 at rawartists.org. Scope requests that you dress in cocktail attire, so get a little fancied up, and go check out what San Antonio's underground artists have got to offer.
