Today, Disney announced via starwars.com
that an 88-second preview of the latest Star Wars film will screen in 30 cities in the United States and Canada, and it should come to no surprise that San Antonio is left off the list.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens
, which incidentally sounds like a really nerdy way to say you have an erection, will tease Texas audiences with footage from the J.J. Abrams-directed film in Austin, Houston and Dallas, beginning Friday, November 28. San Antonio will have to wait until after this weekend to get a look at the latest Star Wars film on the big screen, but local audiences can probably catch a glimpse on Friday morning when the teaser is inevitably uploaded to YouTube.
Despite being the seventh largest city in the United States, San Antonio is not considered to be a lucrative media market by sports and entertainment companies. So the fact that San Antonio will have to patiently wait for what amounts to an 88-second commercial is disappointing, but not unexpected.
If you must see The Force Awakens
teaser on the big screen this weekend, you can always drive up to Austin to catch it at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar
. Just be sure to come back with a full report.
