Jonathan Joss is the pivotal "Hey, It's That Guy" of San Antonio, a working actor with an impressive list film and television credits to his name. Your parents loved him as Young Raymond Firewalker on Walker, Texas Ranger, and his film credits include Joel and Ethan Coen's True Grit and the upcoming remake of the classic Western The Magnificent Seven, starring alongside Chris Pratt and Vincent D'Onofrio. But Joss is perhaps best known for his 12-season stint as the voice of King of the Hill's John Redcorn and his hilarious recurring role as Chief Ken Hotate on Parks and Recreation, where he brilliantly skewered Native American stereotypes.

The San Antonio native and OLLU alum may very well be one of the most recognizable Native American actors working today, maintaining a steady career in Hollywood despite the industry's penchant for typecasting and lack of compelling roles for minority actors. Many casual viewers would immediately recognize him when he appears on screen, but mass audiences may not know his name or recognize him on the street.

That can be frustrating to an actor, especially one living in San Antonio, where the media tends to obsess over minutiae of Eva Longoria's day-to-day life. (Hey, did you know she ordered a LuAnn platter recently?)

So one could understand why Joss may feel he doesn't get the hometown recognition he feels he deserves, an ongoing slight that prompted him to complain on Facebook this week about his treatment by the organizers of Alamo City Comic Con after he was denied space on the convention floor as a celebrity guest. The posts, of which there were several, sparked a heated exchange with ACCC founder Alfred "Apple" De La Fuente over what Joss perceives as a lack of respect for San Antonio actors.

Joss appeared as a celebrity guest during Alamo City Comic Con in 2014 and 2015, and was seated near last year's guest-of-honor and convention draw Stan Lee, according to one ACCC attendee. De La Fuente responded to Joss' public complaints in a now deleted Facebook post that was republished by the San Antonio Express-News. The founder defends Joss' lack of inclusion in this year's event, slated to occur September 11-13 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, and blames the actor for contacting organizers long after celebrity guest spots had been filled. A screenshot of a text message exchange between reps for Joss and ACCC indicates that the actor was offered a spot on a guest waiting list. De La Fuente escalated the online beef by referrering to Joss' alleged unprofessional behavior during the previous two conventions.

Wow! So a bit of warning to other con owners about a former guest Jonathan Joss.
He does voice acting and was on King of the Hill.
He has been spilling lies and been making up stories that I have texted his con rep aka Kimberly Suta.

I am just in shock by his actions. He has feed his fans misinformation or his con rep has. I am a God going man and a man with honor.
And these attacks on me and my show are just uncalled for.
So if Kimberly will not show Jonathan what I wrote to her then I will post it.
I was contacted on June 4th. Close to 90 days before ACCC and any major con organizer knows you are set on guest if they don’t reach out to you at least 10months before your show.

And I would like to add all truths I know about Mr.Joss.

ACCC 2013 I fit Jonathan when all tables were gone but I managed to make something work for him to be in.
Mr. Joss spent the time bad mouthing me and many guest like power rangers and my guest Randall Ng informed me of what he was saying.
Randall can tell you about his unprofessional actions that weekend and things he said in front of a little 7 year old kid.

I stayed professional and kind, this is the type of man I am.

ACCC 2014 again I was informed late by his camp that he would like to attend. I fit him in again being notified late. Again I heard the bad talk about me.

This year you see my one and only response to his camp or con rep attached.

The past 3 days he has feed the public misinformation and saying i have text and called. Sorry to disappoint but I have not texted or called and neither has my staff.
Mr. Joss is making to sound like he is the victim when in fact it is all lies and misinformation he is giving his fans.

Many local people in the film community here and podcast and blogs can tell you about Mr. Joss attitude and unprofessional style.
He also fails to mention how he is banned at another Texas show for showing up under the influence.

I have never changed and I remained kind and professional as everyone knows me to be. I like to be positive and see the good in people.
But folks are posting to ACCC and attacking my staff and my character.

My staff who work hard should not be subject to seeing these attacks by people who don’t know the full side of the story.
People have talked bad about me and attacked me. That’s fine, I can take it. But you attack my staff who have worked hard 2 weeks after ACCC was done.
No way! I will not stand for it.

From information he is giving to public of things I said or text, yes please post! I would like to see these text and post.
Because the only one is the one I have posted.

Then he talks about the community and attacking me.
Mr.Joss you can contact Susan G Komen of San Antonio, you can contact SAPD, you can talk to countless people and organizations around San Antonio what I do day in and Day out for my community.
And thousands of dollars we give to charities or the endless amount of tickets we give to our police, firefighters, military and Wounded Warriors.
There are things I have done for dying children’s last wish that I don’t want recognition for.

So before you come attack me, you better do something for the city of San Antonio more than I do.

The online fight continued over at mysa.com after both Joss and De La Fuente responded to the paper's request for comment. De La Fuente was much more cordial and diplomatic than he was in his now deleted Facebook post.

Alamo City Comic Con comes September 11-13. We are excited to be bringing guest from around the world to see our beautiful city. What better way to celebrate heroes than where heroes lived! Johnathan has done great for himself, wish the very best for him and his career.

Joss, meanwhile, took the opportunity to explain that his presence would inspire young San Antonians and to let readers know that he's currently on set with Chris Pratt, whose film Jurassic World broke box office records last weekend.

I AM A PROUND SOUTHSIDE SA MAN..WITH FOCUS ON SHOWINGTHE BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN AND PEOPLE OF SA..THAT DREAMS CAN COME TRUE..i did two of his… CONS..for nothing. I paid my airfare I paid my travel I also paid to have a place to stay all on my own dime .except for a table by the mens toilet. Did i receive..i am a strong BRAND..raised and educated in SA..Gillett elementary. .mc.cullum high..and a ba from OLLU….i would think his goal would be to make his brand more positive for the people of SA..SEEING they are the ones investing their time and money….MR.apple is treating me like the NBA..treats..the SPURS..even tho my resume shows some Magnificent winning rings..he refuses to show me respect..lack of respect for me sir..is a lack of respect for SA.. I am a positive brand …. a result of this positive city ..beatiful city… in a nutshell I was part of his con for nothing.. For a table near a toilet how do you deny a man a table near a toilet for nothing a man who is a positive role model for the city of San Antonio.. Evidently Mr Apple does care about ….Nothing.. and….. especially himself…. I am on location for the magnificent 7 now and my phone service does not work if you would like to speak to me in person when I get a break I could drive to town…

I should have said on the phone I am currently in Louisiana
I also notice that people fans people of San Antonio are asking him why he is not allowing me to attend his con you would think his focus would be on listening to the people of San Antonio.. Honestly no room for1 table and 1 additional chair in the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center…
What I found quite annoying isn’t is that my con representation got a text accusing me of bashing his con also stating that I will never be a ..guest at his con… I did no bashing merely spoke the truth and on hindsight I don’t believe I ever was a guest at is con guests receive travel room and I guarantee I got nothing.. He may think what I get is a chance to show the young people and the struggling people of San Antonio that dreams do come true sir and payment for the people of San Antonio is a payment that will be with me forever
Also paste. . Looking forward to seeing my fans in the parking lot of the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center.. I’ll be there old man in the little grey smart car making sure everyone has a magnificent king of the hill day

Joss continued posting about the matter today on his Facebook page, going as far as crowdsourcing for an attorney for what he perceives as a libelous attack on his character.

A number of Joss' passionate online fans — and, boy, are they passionate — took to Alamo City Comic Con's Facebook page to complain. Several report being banned from publishing comments, according to replies on the actor's Facebook page. Meanwhile the comment thread on the original San Antonio Express-News post is closed.

This week wasn't the first time Joss has taken to social media to complain about a lack of recognition. The actor and several of his fans were keen to let us know of the San Antonio Current's failure to include him in a slideshow of local celebrity high school alums. (The omission has since been corrected.)

So is Joss correct regarding this matter? Perhaps. There's something to be said for promoting homegrown talent. But at the same time, ACCC has indicated that it has twice accommodated Joss despite the fact that he contacted organizers late in the game. Should organizers make accommodations just because a celebrity is from the Alamo City?

ACCC has indicated that it will no longer issue additional responses regarding Joss' allegations. Meanwhile, Joss is currently filming The Magnificent Seven in Louisiana and will continue, presumably, to post on Facebook.
