Teenagers (and Parents of Teens): Go to Artpace Tomorrow


Launched by the Whitney Museum of American Art in collaboration with the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston and The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, the multi-year research project “Room to Rise” found improved personal growth, life skills, community engagement and career horizons among the long-terms benefits of teen programming at art museums.

Taking those findings to heart, Artpace will host Texas Convening for Teens in the Arts on Thursday, bringing together educators and teen representatives from Artpace, Blue Star MOSAIC, Fort Worth Modern, Dallas Museum of Art, Creative Action, SAY Sí and the Kimbell Art Museum for a series of workshops, presentations and roundtable discussions presented in partnership with the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston (ICA). In its second year, the conference offers two public programs: an open studio presentation (10am) and a panel discussion between creative professionals from the ICA, Lake|Flato, VentureLab and Weston Urban (6pm).
