Win a Fiesta Medal By Taking a Selfie with Your Pet’s Poop

The City of San Antonio’s Transportation & Capital Improvements department has a limited edition Fiesta medal this year that encourages pet owners to scoop up their furry friends’ poop — and post a selfie with it.

The department will be giving away the poop-centric medals through April 21 as part of their “Doo It Fur Our River” campaign, which hopes to reduce water pollutions, especially fecal bacteria that ends up in the river via storm water runoff.

“What better time to remind people about the importance of keeping pet poop and other kinds of pollutants off the ground than during Fiesta?” said Nefi Garza, the department’s Storm Water assistant director, in a prepared statement.

For a chance at the medal, snap a picture or short video of yourself scooping and properly disposing of your pet’s poop, whether it be in your yard or out on a walk and post it on either
Facebook or Twitter with #RememberTheRiver.
