Now in its third year, Paper Trail SA
is a veritable wonderland for fans of unique printmaking and design, as well as those wishing to deck their walls or add to their art collection. Dedicated to contemporary works of art and design on paper, Paper Trail’s mission is to provide artists and onlookers alike “a one-of-a-kind experience aimed at connecting artists to collectors in a forum that celebrates the artistic process and the culture of design and printmaking.”
This year, Zane Thomas, one of the three original founders of Paper Trail and Black Moon Print owner, enlisted Karen and Eddy Rios (the duo behind the Creative Creatures
all-arts parties) as media partners.
"[Paper Trail] encourages deep interaction and real life connections between, not only the collectors, but also between the participating artists," Karen Rios explained to the Current
via email. "We look forward to seeing how much further this can expand an awareness and appreciation of the art of printmaking within the community."
Eager to be on board, Rios explained that she and her husband Eddy feel that this event is a "much needed, in demand, opportunity to connect a variety of collectors of all ages and backgrounds to artwork and artists that they either know and love or that they have yet to discover."
And, besides all that, "It opens a line of genuine communication, person to person, that is sometimes lost in the hustle and bustle of our busy and chaotic digital world."
And, we aren’t kidding when we say that, this year
, the sheer scope and diversity of participating artists is as impressive as the individual artists themselves. It's the biggest and the best Paper Trail yet.
Just a few of the 45 featured artists that we are looking forward to snagging some product from include locals Regina Morales
(with that sweet, San Anto pop-goth style), Cruz Ortiz
(the man of the moment in Tex-Mex printmaking), Jose Sotelo
(maker of mystical images that meld the natural with the hyperreal). We’re also excited to see work from Puro Chingon Collective
(ATX), Sable Mirerez (Chicago), James Beard (HTX), and Maritza Torres
Aside from the dizzyingly stacked day market, you may want to plan to attend an exclusive ($25.00 admission) preview/mixer night for Paper Trail, also at Brick, which will be held from 7:00pm-11:00pm on Friday July 28.
