It may be seven months away, but that doesn't mean it's too early to get excited about Fiesta San Antonio 2018.

The Battle of Flowers Association announced yesterday that the city's beloved Familia Cortez, owners of Mi Tierra Cafe & Panaderia, would serve as grand marshal for the Battle of Flowers Parade. With 2018 being San Antonio's tricentennial, the association felt that the grand marshal needed to represent the history, culture and heart of the city.

The theme - "300 Timeless Treasures" - will honor the past and look toward the future of the Alamo City.

Officials also announced that the parade, which traditionally starts at 12:45 p.m., will now begin at 10 a.m. See you there, Familia Cortez!
