It’s been a minute since we’ve cozied up with the lovely ladies of Stars and Garters, a beloved troupe that did a lot of heavy lifting (not to mention bumping, grinding, shimmying and shaking) to help build a burlesque scene in sleepy San Antonio. And with the Alamo City in the midst of 300th anniversary celebrations, who better to put a sultry spin on the Tricentennial than tattooed, tassel-twirling redhead Pystol Whips, ’60s-styled blond bombshell Suki Jones, the “Transoceanic Tropical Tease” known as Black Orchid and relative newcomer Giselle J’Adore?

Aptly kicking off their 2018 season in a historic Hemisfair venue, their retro-fabulous Tricentennial Tease welcomes emcee Joel Settles and special guests Queen Anthuros, Dolce Dream and Bethany Summersizzle into the fold for a vaudeville-inspired evening combining classic striptease, audience participation, comedy and side-show routines.

Subtitled A Celebration of San Antonio’s Sexiest Assets, the “carnal celebration” promises to “bring the bare back into Bexar County” complete with a folklórico dance performance, stylistic nods to the Alamo and pesky local bugs, a “tribute to a staple of Fiesta food stands” (sexy chicken on a stick?) and a revealing look at Emily Morgan, the so-called Yellow Rose of Texas.

$17-$25, Sat Apr 7, 8pm (doors at 7pm), Beethoven Hall (aka Magik Theatre), 420 S. Alamo St., (432) 235-0414, starsandgartersburlesque.com.
