We’re not sure where on the spectrum of crossdressing alter egos comedian Benji Brown’s “most requested character” Kiki sits in comparison to someone like Tyler Perry’s Madea, but Brown seems all-in when it comes to his female doppelganger.
In one online video called “Kiki at Myammee’s Hair Spa,” Kiki, a high-pitched redhead with facial hair, throws a fit at a salon and asks the stylist to make her “look like Beyoncé.” In another, Kiki gives a makeup tutorial and chooses the color “Waffle House yellow” for her eyeshadow. Kiki, who also has her own Twitter account, might be Brown’s most famous character, but it’s not the only thing the stand-up comedian and on-air personality for the Atlanta-based syndicated radio show The Rickey Smiley Show
does on stage.
Brown has been honing his craft since 1999 and has appeared on a host of shows, including BET’s Comic View
, ESPN’s Cold Pizza
and MTV’s Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out
. He’s performed across the nation and even has a film credit to his name for the 2003 comedy A Miami Tail
, which shares the same basic premise as Spike Lee’s 2015 joint Chi-Raq
