Spurs Sports and Entertainment will hold tryouts for its new 35-member co-ed Hype Team over the next few weeks. The team will replace the Silver Dancers after 26 years and debut at the beginning of the 2018-19 season.

Interested San Antonians will first have the chance to audition this Saturday at St. Anthony's High School Fencing Center. A second audition date is set for Saturday, August 5 at the UIW McDermott Convocation Center.

The Spurs say that spots on the team will be given to talented individuals who are 18 and older looking to perform at 35 events throughout the season. Qualifications include outstanding communication skills, punctuality and experience in athletics, such as cheerleading and dancing.

Auditions will test the skills of Hype Team hopefuls in private sessions comprised of team-building exercises and a group interview with a panel of judges. The interview will give those auditioning a chance to show off skills that will enhance the game-day experience.
