It’s hard to formulate an objective argument, as it always is with these things, that The Royal Tenenbaums is Wes Anderson’s best movie — but, to many of his devotees, there’s no contest. And perhaps more than any of the acclaimed Austin auteur’s work save for Rushmore, it’s a movie beloved by many who may not know any of his other films or even who he is.

Said movie, about a family dysfunctional enough to make the rest of us feel fortunate about our own, will be screened on the lawn at the San Antonio Museum of Art this weekend as a part of Slab Cinema’s ongoing Wes Fest, a celebration of Anderson’s entire catalog. A word to the wise: the news is fully out about these rad outdoor Wes Fest screenings, so if you’re hoping for prime seating you’ll probably want to arrive early.

Free, Fri July 27, 8pm, San Antonio Museum of Art, 200 W. Jones Ave., (210) 978-8100, wesandersonfilmfestival.com.
