Back in February, brewer Holland Lawrence of Ranger Creek Brewing and Distilling created an amber ale with peach notes based on a song by local band Colleens. Sample the brew during the brewery’s spring open house, which will feature whiskey and beer pours and food by two local trucks.

The San Antonio Chefs Cooperative teams up with Dorcol Distilling Company for Cocktails for Cinema, a fundraiser for the San Antonio Film Festival. The event will bring together chefs Isaac Cantu of Cordillera Ranch, Alex Altamirano of Morrison Dining, Toby Soto of Ocho at Hotel Havana, Kathy Pullin of Pullin BBQ, James Whitson of Brindles Ice Cream and Zach Lutton of Zedric’s preparing heavy hors d’ouvres along with supporting chefs Stephen Paprocki of Top Chefa, Chris Cook of Farm2Fork Catering and Jeff White of Boiler House. Arcade’s Chris Ware, The Brooklynite’s Jeret Peña, Bar 1919’s Don Marsh, Blue Box’s Adrian Sarabia and TBA’s Johnny Umaul will join house bartender Nick Kenna in getting everyone nice and toasty.

Ever thought to yourself, “I wish I could taste several dozen paellas in one day” who hasn’t? The Paella Challenge, a rain-or-shine event at the Pearl, hosted by chef Johnny Hernandez, brings together chefs from SA and Mexico in this tasty competition. Sample traditional and contemporary paellas, sip some Corona and sangria and help decide who will be crowned People’s Choice winner. Proceeds benefit the Culinary Institute of America-San Antonio.
