In this-is-why-we-can't-have-nice-things news, The Bubble Room is leaving San Antonio. The bar featured "a “grown-up quality,” a “cute happy hour,” and great selection of decently priced bubbly" according to our 2010 review.

The Champagne and tapas bar, owned by Vanessa Morgan, closed its doors at 1846 N Loop 1604 W in June of 2013 with hopes of moving into Southtown. Unfortunately, after several months of negotiations, the new location fell through.

Morgan, a 24-year resident of San Antonio said she watched other neighboring local businesses shutter since she opened the bar in 2009. She cited lackluster weeknights as part of the reason she chose to relocate the venue.

"It was a challenge finding people who enjoy wine and food, and not kids that just want to get wasted," Morgan said.

For now, Morgan is shopping Austin properties so no opening date has been set. Morgan, who calls San Antonio home, will remain in the city and commute to the bar's new location. Follow the bar on Facebook for details.
