Next time you're at your buddy's house drinking a few cold ones and the stash runs low, you won't have to get behind the wheel and make a beer fun. Beer Runners can help with that.
"After drinking, there's always a risk of having to go get more beer, and we've seen both sides of it," Snider said.
Started by Bexar law enforcement officer Gabriel Gutierrez and wife Miranda Snider, Beer Runners hopes to help cut the number of drunk driving incidents by acting as a middle man to would-be beer runners. The beer delivery service launched this past Wednesday with a conservative selection of brews that includes 12-packs of Blue Moon, Bud Light, Budweiser, Coors Light, Corona Extra, Dos Equis, Heineken, Lone Star, Lone Star Light, Michelob Ultra, Miller Lite, Sam Adams and Shiner Bock. Packs of cigarettes are also available for delivery.
According to Snider, the legalities of delivering beer (and what's become the most common question) have been squared away with TABC, and they're hoping to add craft brews based on what the San Antonio needs. And yes, they do check IDs.
Delivery rates start at $6.99 with a $20 minimum, and change to 10 percent if an order goes over 100. Beer prices range from $9.99 to $16.49, and Beer Runner's site offers a sound argument for said prices: "Our beer is not over-priced, we simple charge a $6.99 delivery fee...that's still cheaper than a DWI!"
