Friday, December 5:
The Esquire Tavern is celebrating its birthday this Friday, marking 81 glorious years of legal alcohol consumption since the end of Prohibition (aka Repeal Day). The boozy party will feature a live jazz quartet and a performance by the award-winning Stars and Garters burlesque troupe. David Alan, Tipsy Texan blogger, will be bartending. Free, 10pm Friday, Esquire Tavern, 155 E Commerce St, (210) 222-2521, esquiretavern-sa.com.

Friday, December 5: The Brooklynite is also ready to get the alcohol flowing this Repeal Day with a classy, 1930s-themed celebration. The swanky bar’s offering up a classic cocktail menu, a champagne toast, and jazzy tunes provided by DJ Steven Moya. Era-appropriate clothing is strongly encouraged, so break out your sparkly headpieces and ugly fedoras. Free, The Brooklynite, 516 Brooklyn Ave, (210) 444-0707, thebrooklynitesa.com.

Friday, December 5: Okay, if you thought Esquire Tavern and the Brooklynite were taking Repeal Day seriously, brace yourselves for this one – Whiskey Cake is selling five-cent cocktails to commemorate the legalization of alcohol. The bar’s taking us back to 1933 this Friday by offering Negronis, Vodka Gimlets, Daiquiris, and Scotch Highballs all for just a nickel. A nickel! Prediction: shit’s going to get crazy. You’d better get in there early. 5-7pm Friday, Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar, 15900 La Cantera Pkwy Ste 21200, (210) 236-8095, whiskeycakesa.com.

Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6: Boardwalk on Bulverde is joining forces with the San Antonio Marine Corps to throw its annual Toys for Tots Drive and Food Truck festival this weekend. Several food trucks will be waiting there to feed you, including Treats on Streets and Scratch Bistro. Check it out this weekend, and bring some toys. The Spurs DJ, Deejae Quake, will make an appearance on Friday. Free, 6pm Friday, 12-10pm Saturday, 14732 Bulverde Rd, (210) 402-2829, boardwalkonbulverde.com.

Tuesday, December 9: Bob’s Burgers invites you to give back this holiday season at their Jingle Bells and Burgers event. $20 will get you a burger and fries, and a drink (beer included). All proceeds will benefit Bexar County's Elf Louise Christmas Project which is dedicated to providing Christmas joy to less fortunate children in the area. A raffle will also be held at the party—you could potentially win 8th row center Spurs tickets. $20 per person, 6:30-10:30pm Tuesday, Big Bob’s Burgers, 4533 N 1604 W, elflouise.org.
