Michelle Griego, a resident of Dignowity Hill, is collecting signatures to help launch small market on Sundays at Dignowity Park.

The petition, which has 92 signatures so far online and support via District 2 Councilman Alan E. Warrick, will be presented to San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department sometime this week. Griego hopes the market will stay small to start, but grow to include area businesses such as Dignowity Meats on Houston St., which will bottle dressings in the future.

The goal of the market, according to the petition, is to "offer healthy and fresh food to the community at an affordable price and support local businesses at the same time," and Griego is currently searching for vendors who will be asked to take WIC and SNAP cards.
