We're going to need a bigger boat.
There's a new addition to the Government Hill neighborhood. After announcing Shuck Shack
(520 E. Grayson St., 210-236-7422) in mid-January, Jason Dady's
latest eatery will open on Saturday, July 4 from noon to 9 p.m.
Shuck Shack comes complete with a suitable parking lot (gracias a Dios), picnic tables, deck and inside dining room, all laced with a subtle seaside feel. Oh, hip parents will be happy to know there's a giant playground available for the kids. As Dady's seafaring restaurant, the spot's got an interesting opening menu which includes salads, bowls (with a stellar oystah chowdah), "sammies & crispys" (a lobster roll, burger, fish 'n' chips and a Tijuana Dog sampled at this year's Burger & Beer event). There's a solid starting cocktail lineup, which includes a few shareable punchbowls. Oysters, available raw and baked, change daily with most hailing from New England ($2.75 each) as well as the Louisiana Gulf Coast ($1.65).
Opening hours will continue for dinner July 13-18 and the launch of Sunday brunch on July 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours will then switch to 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. the following week.
