Mark's Outing (1624 E. Commerce St., 210-299-8110), formerly Fatty's (and I don't know about y'all, but I still call it that), is making dreams come true again on Friday, September 18. To celebrate National Cheeseburger Day, the local burger joint is giving away one free quarter-pound cheeseburger per customer.

Owner Mark Outing, who opened up Fatty's in 2005, is ready to tackle the crowd. He's bringing on more cooks and is planning on monitoring crowd control, letting in only 80 or so people at a time for burgers. Learn from the mistake I made last year — don't go during the rush. Either get there early, or go after lunch for your best shot at getting your hands on a cheeseburger.

Though burgers are completely free, Outing is encouraging patrons to donate to the Claude Black Youth Leadership Institute, a non-profit program that helps at-risk youths in the East Side. The program exposes the students to classes on etiquette and other social skills in an effort to keep them out of trouble.
