Did I just Google "when does deer season start?" Maybe.

Don Strange Ranch (103 Waring Welfare Road, Boerne) and the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension want you to be ready for all the game you're about to eat in the coming weeks. The ranch (where Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton tied the knot some years ago ... and man, I hope they work their shit out) will host Deer Camp, a wild game lunch and interactive workshop event on Friday, October 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The workshops are interactive so dress accordingly because you'll be working on field dressing a deer and wild hog, Dutch oven cooking, wrapping and storing, jerky- and sausage-making, and hunting etiquette (using your arrows left side in?).

To register for this veritable venison experience, visit agriliferegister.tamu.edu/backyardbasics or call (979) 845-2604 by October 5.

Oh, and white-tailed deer season starts October 3 for archers only. Cue the Hunger Games whistle
