Don't expect a whole lot of changes to the restaurant other than the menu.
Based on the success of a recent brunch pop-up with pitmaster Emilio Soliz, the owners of Taps Y Tapas
(1012 N. Flores St.) will transition from Modern Mexican cuisine to something a little more puro.
Soliz owns Sweet Christi's BBQ
, a food truck that operates out of the city's Northwest Side and The Point Park and Eats (which Denise Aguirre and Noel Cisneros also own in addition to Tapas). The new concept will focus on South Texas comfort food, with Soliz creating dishes from his time growing up in Atascosa. Think barbecue, tacos, rice and beans, chili, and chicken and dumplings.

Though the new partnership remains unnamed patrons should expect it to takeover the Taps Y Tapas space in the Five Points neighborhood within the next two to three weeks. Soliz, who served as pitmaster for Two Bros. BBQ & Market for five and a half years, is also understandably stoked for the move.
"We started the food truck to try and get a restaurant," Soliz said. "It's been just over a year and a half that we opened.
A second pop-up with Soliz is planned for this Sunday, October 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
