Why cook on Thanksgiving?
Preparing for Thanksgiving takes a lot of time and multiple trips to H-E-B. Sometimes having to clean up after your whole familia
just doesn't sound that appealing. If your family tradition is to dine-out
for Thanksgiving at your favorite local or chain restaurant, here are some ideas to think about. The restaurants will offer dine-in specials, as well as pre-order options, so you can pick up and make it back in time to watch the Cowboys play the Panthers. , but more importantly, find out where you can stock up on pie.
If you're wanting to have a Thanksgiving style brunch Biga on the Banks
(203 S. St.Mary's St., 210-225-0722) has you covered. It will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the cost is $59 for adults and kids 12 and under $27. Their menu will feature items like tangerine brandy glazed turkey, baked ham, buttermilk mashers and for dessert some pistachio creme brulee. If you're worried about keeping the kiddos entertained, they will have a dessert table filled with gingerbread men and whoopie pies.
Boudro's Texas Bistro on the River Walk
(421 E. Commerce St., 210-224-8484) will make it easy to entertain out-of-town guests with a four-course dinner for $39 per person. The menu, created by executive chef Robbie Nowlin, will include roasted pumpkin bisque, winter mache salad, duck confit with Yukon gold potato-manchego gratin and sweet potato pecan pie.
Crumpets Restaurant and Bakery
(3920 Harry Wurzbach Rd., 210-821-5600) has a Thanksgiving menu of their own that is the whole package. Each meal comes with an appetizer, bread, house salad and a dessert. Some of their featured menu items include mousse truffle pate, tenderloin of beef, roasted turkey and baked ham (of course) with all of the traditional sides. The plates range from $30-$40 for adults. For kids 10 and under, it's $13.50.
Grandma and grandpa might not be up for cooking a whole Thanksgiving spread, but Earl Abel's Restaurant
(1201 Austin Hwy #175, 210-822-3358) has a spread prepared for you. The entrees will include an appetizer, vegetable, dinner rolls and a dessert. Entrees like the holiday-glazed
ham steak or boneless beef ribs, paired with fresh green beans with smoked bacon and sweet onions or creamed spinach will all be on the menu, as well as their regular menu items which will be served from 3 p.m. to close. Prices range from $20-$25 for adults and $10-$15 for kids 10 and younger.
If you insist on having people over, let O'liva
(115 Plaza De Armas #107, 210-229-2638) do the work for you. The Downtown eatery is accepting orders on to-go Thanksgiving dinners. At $18 per person, the plates will include autumn tom with rosemary and lemony
glaze, pumpkin bisque, Spanish chorizo and cornbread stuffing, green bean almandine with cranberries, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, herb-crusted earthen rolls and pie of choice (pumpkin, chocolate pecan or spiced apple).
A Thanksgiving Feast will be held Green Vegetarian Cuisine
(200 E. Grayson #200, 210-320-5865) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. only at their Pearl Brewery location. Vegan turkey, sausage apple stuffing
and cranberry salad are some exclusives from the menu. It is $24.95 per person, which includes gratuity for your meal and $12.95 for the kiddos. You must RSVP for this event, and you can do so here
and the seating is first come first served basis. You can also pre-order your feast as well.
The traditional Thanksgiving meal gets boring year after year. Luce Ristorante e Enoteca
(11255 Huebner Rd., 210-561-9700) is serving an Italian twist on the traditional meal. Lunch will be served from noon to 4 p.m. Their menu includes antipasti, prosciutto di parma, tomato broth, slow roasted tom turkey and fresh fall vegetables, ending with pumpkin pie. An a la carte menu will also be available, but you must make reservations early.
A San Antonio favorite as well as, the place to get your last minute sides to take to your Tia's house, Bill Miller's Bar-B-Q
(Multiple locations) is your savior. Every year Bill Miller's offers a Thanksgiving menu to make this holiday a breeze. You can purchase a small party pack, which is a complete meal for 10 for $85 or the large party pack, which is a complete meal for 20 for $150. If you're looking to just buy an already made turkey or glazed ham, you can do that as well. Order online, or call your nearest location for this deal.
Big Bob's Burgers

Maggiano's Little Italy
(17603 I-10, 210-451-6000) is offering four-course Italian-American inspired Thanksgiving meal for carry-out. Among the items on the menu are traditional raost
turkey breast, focaccia sausage stuffing, mashed sweet potatoes and pecan praline cheesecake. You can also reserve one the restaurants private dining spaces for your family.

Thanksgiving dinner on November 26, otherwise known as Thanksgiving proper. Dinner is $55 per person or $24 for children under 12. Visit their site to see the complete menu.
Ruth's Chris Steak House
(Multiple locations) is also doing a three-course prix fixe menu. Prices range from $39.95 - $41.95 per person or $12.95 for the children's menu. You can reserve a table online at their website.
Two Bro's BBQ
(12656 West Ave., 210-496-0222) has a barbecue-style Thanksgiving dinner available for take-out. For just under $100, you can get the entire Thanksgiving meal, including BBQ-spiced smoked whole turkey, mac
and cheese with a Ritz cracker crumble, cranberry and pecan stuffing, rosemary mashed potatoes, giblet country gravy and a dozen dinner rolls. Just call to pre-order.
