The Lincoln Heights area is about to get a new eatery by way of Cafe Dijon
(555 E. Basse Road, Suite 113, 210-822-2665), which opens this Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the former home of Cafe Salsita.

, front-of-house manager/pastry chef Christopher Jara and kitchen manager Christopher Nieto, both formerly with the St. Anthony Hotel, Cafe Dijon will add breakfast, lunch and dinner options available for dining in and pick-up purposes. The opening menu includes a la carte items such as the Frittata du Jour, Greek yogurt parfait, egg dishes and toasts (a Ratatouille with fried egg, gouda and her-roasted veggies with a tomato basil puree already sounds like a winner). A main course menu also includes heartier lunch options including pizzette du jour featuring house-made focaccia bistro salads and sandwiches such as a duck club, roast beef, pimento cheese and more with prices ranging from $7 to $12.
On the sweet side, Jara will feature scratch-made artisan pastries so expect eclairs, tarts and cakes, available by the slice or whole.
"We're trying to guide people into eating healthier without being obnoxious about it," Jara said.
The 1,700-square-foot restaurant, which will seat about 70, will also feature an educational component to go with their local, fresh and seasonal tagline. Evening cooking classes will be offered with pointers on how the food comes together and how to replicate at home for foodies that aren't afraid of their stoves.
