The spot formerly occupied by gone-too-soon Mezcalería Mixtli now houses Sabor Cocina Bar
, opened by Federico and Cendy Guillen. The restaurant had a small soft opening this weekend and will now open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday and close on Mondays.
Federico, formerly with Rosario's Mexican Cafe y Cantina, developed breakfast, lunch and dinner menus all created inside the tiny kitchen which now includes a full stove. Breakfast includes waffles, pancakes, chilaquiles and a la carte dishes, while lunch and dinner offer variations of enchiladas, salads and other house specialties.
The restaurant is still waiting for its TABC license, but hopes to feature special tequila cocktails.
