The grocery store first announced the launch of a new mochi bar at select stores ( Wheaton, Illinois, Fremont, California, Austin, Texas) on January 31, and San Antonio's two locations now lay claim to their very own mini mochi self-serve bars. Mochi ice cream, a Japanese-American dessert made by covering bite-sized balls of ice cream with a sweet Japanese rice dough, is available at $2 a pop.

Flavors include vanilla bean, double chocolate, red bean, black sesame, ripe strawberry, Khona coffee, sweet mango, green tea and matcha green tea.

The small freezer is located near the hot and cold bars by check out at the Alamo Quarry location, where a team member says people have been "super excited" about having the dessert bar available. The Quarry location received the mochi bar about a week and a half ago, per said team member, but the Vineyard location has been rolling in mochi since late March, per one of the the company's marketing and community relations member.
