I'm not apawlogizing for the amount of pup puns you're about to read.
Fur-fans of PAWsitively Sweet Bakery
will finally have a place to pick up treats during the week with the opening of the bakery's first retail shop on June 24 on the city's East Side.
Owner Alexis Quiroga — who launched the farmers market favorite at the ripe age of 20 in 2013 — says the space off Commerce will allow for more biscuit balls, along with new products such as pig snouts, cow hooves, and an expanded jerky line. The new location, which Quiroga says sits at 1,000 square feet, will also include a dog run and serve as event space.
PAWsitively Sweet Bakery is a staple at the Pearl Farmers Market along with the New Braunfels Farmers Market on weekends with its treats made using human-grade ingredients and no preservatives, cornmeal, fillers or sugar.
"Our customers ask for things during the week, and some just aren't able to make it to the markets," Quiroga, now 24, says, "I decided to take this on a more full-time aspect and focus on the business like I've been wanting to do."
This means the animal lover and avid baker, whose first word was "kitty," will focus on more pup-friendly treats fresh from San Antonio.
The boutique/bakery will open Saturday, June 24 with a party from 3 to 7 p.m. The first 50 guests will take home a free swag bag, and the store will also offer bakery and boutique discounts, pet adoptions, a photo booth and food and treats for doggos and their humans. An ice cream social is in the works for July 17 with pupperino-approved ice cream and popsicles.
