If you didn't have a reason before to visit Hanzo, the newly opened Alamo Heights bar, now you do. The latest bar concept from Steve Mahoney, is now hosting two happy hours. While out side of happy hour you can order both classic and creatively named craft cocktails that will start at about $9 and steadily go up in price (one is over $20!), the happy hour menu offers a more affordable price on beer, wine, cocktails, and last but not least, sake.
The menu includes three cocktails priced at $7, and while it isn't the cheapest happy hour out there, it does offer a nice break from the high prices associated with the Heights. The drinks included are a spicy pineapple daiquiri, a refreshing Yuzu Mule and a boozy Asian Old Fashioned. In addition to these cocktails, they have select wine for $5.50, Sake Bombs and house shots for $4 and a dollar off all Japanese beers. It's the perfect place for a group of friends to come and drink, a place where nearly everyone could find a discount for something they like on the menu.
The only downside is that the bar doesn't have any food specials. Though they do have a reverse happy hour and a late night menu, which features a staff favorite the Seafood Okonomoyaki. At $12 it is priced a little higher than other items, but it's a delicious combination between sweet and savory and is big enough to split between two people.
