Bears might be the mascot of choice for Bexar Pub, the Eastside watering hole opened by chef Luis Colon and partner Daniel Eisenhauer. But this Thursday, it'll be more like CareBexars.

From 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, Bexar Pub will donate a portion of their proceeds to  the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES). The goal is to help cover three application renewal fees for local Dreamers before the October 5 cut-off.

Dreamers applying for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals permits incur a $495 renewal fee. Donations will also be taken during the event.

In September, President Donald Trump announced he’d be rescinding DACA, leaving it up to Congress to come up with a solution to protect ”dreamers” who have relied on the program for five years. Read more about local Dreamers in last week's cover story here.
