Periphery opened in February of this year, where Old Main Association used to be housed. Opened by chef Mark Weaver, who was previously at Jason Dady's Tre Trattoria, they specialize in food with an Italian-Southern influence.
Happy hour runs Tuesday thru Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and features $5 glasses of wine, a list of $5 cocktails including Manhattans, Old Fashioneds, Negronis and a French 75, and half-off select beers. During happy hour, they offer $5 braised greens and cornbread and $.75 pimento cheese crackers.
Periphery is frequented by those in the area. From professionals with offices down the street, to those that live in the Monte Vista community. The crowd is on the older side.
With the crowd that frequents Periphery made up of those that are established professionals in the community, the eatery doesn't get busy until later in the evening and towards the end of happy hour. Visiting between 5 and 6:30 means that space at the bar is plentiful, and it's the perfect place to sit and visit with those that run the joint. Conversation with the staff is ample, the drinks and food solid, and the atmosphere — both causal and upscale. The pimento cheese crackers are great for a little snack and to help soak up the booze from your $5 drinks. The braised greens are great for those wanting more heft for a small price. Honestly, you could come for happy hour spend only $10 bucks, and leave full. It's a great place for a date, a casual meet-up with friends, or for a little substance and class before a night on the nearby Strip.
