Chef Johnny Hernandez's latest concept, a burger joint inspired by the flavors of Mexico, is opening on Monday, December 4.
Early taste-testers have been sharing photos to social media, and so far the images look amazing. The restaurant will feature menu items such as the "Oaxaqueña, an Angus beef patty dressed with mole negro, black bean spread, pickled onions, avocado, and queso fresco," and "Pacifica with seared tuna topped off with chipotle-lime mayo, cabbage slaw, sesame seeds, avocado, and tomato."
Aside from craft beer, and Mexican rum cocktails, the shop will feature a stand-alone ice cream joint with paletas, raspas, nieves and house-made signature ice cream nachos (!) with buñuelos, ice cream, fresh fruit syrups and Oaxacan chocolate fudge.
Burgerteca lives on the ground floor of the Big Tex Flats, inside the Blue Star Arts Complex, and will open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
