Just because it's a little chilly out doesn't mean you can't enjoy a bowl of poké goodness. The Hawaiian-style salad, which combines raw fish and a light dressing, finally made its way to San Antonio as of mid-2016 with great renditions at Bexar Pub, Posh Sushi and as a stand-alone shop with Rolling Fish Sushirrito & Poké off De Zavala.
Add chef James Moore (formerly with Max's Wine Dive, Boiler House and Grayze) to the mix of people with penchants for poké. He's teamed up with the San Antonio Cocktail Conference for a two-day (Dec. 13-14) pop-up starting tonight at 400 N. St. Mary's St. from 5 to 8 p.m.
The pop-up will feature three kind of bowls at $11 a pop. Bowls include the Big Kah-tuna with yellowfin tuna, citrus ponzu, avocado, wasabi tobiko, wasabi aioli, cilantro, arugula and bean sprouts; the Salmurai with Atlantic salmon, ginger ponzu, white miso kewpie mayo, cucumber, habanero tobiko, seaweed salad, pickled mango, and scallions; and finally, the First Wave with Gulf shrimp, coconut milk, edamame, radish, wasabi peas, pineapple, mint and serranos. All are served on a bed of seasoned white rice.
