You've got a few months to enjoy NAO, the Culinary Institute of America-San Antonio's
student-run restaurant, as it prepares to close its doors this September.
First opened in 2012, NAO
serves as a living classroom for students where they learn about restaurant life in the front of the house, back of the house and everything in between.
A new concept from the CIA-SA
will open following NAO's closure inside the former home of Sandbar, Andrew Weissman's seafood concept, which closed in late 2016. No word yet on what will open in place of NAO.
The new "yet-to-be-named concept" will also be the future home of the CIA Bakery & Café, where baking and pastry arts students share their tasty products with the public.
Per the release, "the dinner menu, still being developed, will feature ingredients from Texas farmers and ranchers. The restaurant’s unique design and open kitchen will welcome guests to an exciting, casual, and fun dining experience. There will be a full bar and curated wine and beer lists."
It'll open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and come January will house the next CIA Bakery & Café pop-up.
