There will be a familiar face on screen when Chopped
premieres this season of Grill Masters series on July 31.
The popular Food Network series that pairs chefs with mystery boxes filled with all sorts of ingredients will feature pitmasters from four grill regions of the U.S. The 16 pitmasters will hail from Kansas City, Missouri; North Carolina; Memphis, Tennessee; and Texas compete for a cash prize and hometown bragging rights.
Esaul Ramos, the pitmaster and owner of 2M Smokehouse, is one of the contestants.
"I feel like you have to have that chef-iness," Ramos told the Current
earlier this morning, "I didn't really know what to expect."
After being approached by the Food Network earlier this year, Ramos says the show helped him come out of his comfort zone.
"It makes you think on your feet," Ramos said.
Each week, chefs from a different region will compete until one from each area is chosen to compete in the finals.
The finale airs Tuesday, August 28 at 8 p.m. on the Food Network.
