Just a year after opening their first brick-and-mortar location on St. Mary's Street and Mulberry, the owners of The Art of Donut are trying a slightly healthier approach.

The Juice Experiment, owned by Andrea Aguirre and Miguel Aja, will open on August 5 with a slew of salads, juices and smoothies in the space adjacent to its doughnut predecessor.

According to Aguirre, The Juice Experiment will feature a handful of salads, avocado toast, smoothie bowls, eight to 10 smoothies and six or seven smoothies with available add-ons such as collagen, pitaya powder, beet powder, blue spirulina, turmeric and pea powder. The shop will also carry pitaya letters and starfruit on a seasonal basis. Prices will range from $7 to $8.50 for bowls and $5.50 to $8 for juices.

Packaging at the shop will be either corn-based recyclable cups or biodegradable bowls and Aardvark paper straws. The Juice Experiment will open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
