Another coffee shop has hit San Antonio this week with the opening of Don Martin's Coffee at 540 S. Presa.
Owned by Brian Correa, Janet Correa and family friend Daniel Gonzalez, the coffeeshop is serving espresso-based drinks and cold brew using beans from White Elephant Coffee Co.
"Daniel chose White Elephant because he wanted to stay local, and we wanted to carry a great product," Correa said. The shop also carries pan dulce pastries from Cinderella Bakery, opened by Brian's grandfather in 1960.
The 1,300 square-foot shop was formerly used as storage for Bar America, which Correa also owns, and was a boarding house before then. Now, the shop features dark wooden tables, and metal chairs and comfortably fits 48. Don Martin's also serves beer and wine, with local breweries on tap and in can.
Don Martin's Coffee, named after Correa's grandfather and original Bar America owner, Martin Ramirez, tries to capture a San Antonio vibe and Ramirez's casual demeanor.
"My grandfather was a blue collar guy, just a down-to-earth pachuco," Correa said.
Don Martin's Coffee Co. will open Tuesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
540 S. Presa St., (210) 223-1285.
