There will be more coffee in the East Side in the coming year with the opening of Blüm Coffee and Tea
The shop will be spearheaded by Lisa Mireles and chef Christopher Jara, the latter who's become known for his desserts and pastries.
The 600-square-foot café will be the first phase of the project, which will grow to include the adjacent 1,200-square-foot space and include a concept with cocktails and a little something sweet.
"We want to create that place where you don’t have to have a whole meal to get to the best part," teased Jara, a Johnson & Wales University alum who's spent part of the last dozen years as part of catering companies and most recently with the St. Anthony Hotel in downtown San Antonio.
Coffee fans may already be somewhat familiar with Blüm, which launched as part of the Alamo Heights Farmers Market, and offered nitro draft lattes, organic teas and more.
During December, Blüm will pop-up on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a few limited pastries and plenty of coffee.
