San Antonio foodies will have a new spot to try with today's opening of Eastside Kitchenette, a concept from husband-wife team Jeff and Jenn White.
Located at 2119 North I-35 and Rogers Avenue in Government Hill, the casual restaurant and bar is open daily for lunch, brunch, dinner and even late-night eats. Diners can look forward to creative spins on Southern regional classics, such as BBQ meatloaf and buttermilk country-fried duck confit.
The Whites will also offer daily specials and freshly-made desserts. A weekend brunch menu includes pork belly hangover hash, apple cider French toast and fried chicken with pumpkin waffles. With Eastside Kitchenette being both family- and dog-friendly (at least on the patio for the latter), it seems poised to become a brunch hotspot soon enough.
And if you're just about the booze, the Kitchenette's full-service bar will offer signature bourbon-focused cocktails, plus beer and wine. Daily happy hour will run from 4 to 7 p.m. with both drink and snack specials.
Chef Jeff White brings 32 years of kitchen experience to Eastside Kitchenette. He previously served as executive chef at Boiler House and, along with Jenn, helped recreate the menu at Tucker's Kozy Korner before handing over the project to current owners Andrew Lake and Nathan Azar. Jenn also owns and operates Brindles Awesome Ice Cream.
Eastside Kitchenette is the couple's first venture together. Kent Russell, who was previously at Maverick and Outlaw Kitchens, will serve as sous chef.
